Widnes have signed four more players for their Super League return, including Castleford's Ben Davies.
Widnes have continued their recruitment for their return to Super League with the signing of four more players, including Castleford's Ben Davies. Wakefield centre Chris Dean, plus Crusaders' Lloyd White and Frank Winterstein are also heading to the Stobart Stadium. Front-row forward Davies, 21, who made 17 appearances for the Vikings as a dual-registered player in 2010, is currently on loan to the Tigers from Wigan but has agreed a two-year deal to return to the Stobart Stadium from 2012. He was in the Castleford side beaten 10-8 by Leeds in Sunday's Challenge Cup semi-final. Widnes coach Denis Betts is delighted with the capture. He said: "Not only has Ben got Super League experience, but he's also got experience of being at the Stobart Stadium before, having served the club so well in his previous spell. "One of the things we are actively seeking to do is sign quality young players and develop them further and enhance their potential within our environment. "We're looking towards building something really strong at the Vikings and it's important that we get the foundations right first, so securing young British players such as Ben Davies will definitely stand us in good stead for both our immediate and long-term future." Also rejoining the Vikings on a two-year deal is Wakefield's former St Helens centre Dean, 23, who has had two previous spells at the club as a dual-registered player. Widnes have also snapped up two of the players made free agents by Crusaders' withdrawal from Super League. White, a 22-year-old Wales international, has signed a three-year deal and former Wakefield back-rower Frank Winterstein has penned a two-year contract subject to receiving a visa.
