Lloyd White scored four tries in a 24-point performance as the Widnes Vikings strolled to a 58-16 win over previously unbeaten Wakefield at the Select Security Stadium.
The Wales hooker had a day to remember and, with Kevin Brown also in fine form on his 300th-career appearance, the Vikings started strongly and never let up to end Wakefield's 100 per cent start to the season.
Wakefield, after running in 68 points in opening victories over Castleford and Hull KR, conceded 10 tries, with Brown not taking long to make his mark, a slide-rule kick enabling Joe Mellor to touch down after only two minutes, with Danny Tickle tagging on the conversion.
Tickle missed the chance to fire Widnes further ahead by spilling the ball over the line before Chris Clarkson stopped a possible Wildcats try by intercepting Paul McShane's pass.
Brown forced his way over for his first try after 17 minutes to extend the lead to 12-0, before Wakefield lost Scott Anderson who hobbled off after only five minutes after coming on as a tactical substitute.
White went over from dummy-half before Craig Hall spilled a towering Brown kick to put his side under more pressure and the Vikings skipper scythed through a huge gap from a well-rehearsed move to make it 22-0.
A rare Brown mistake gave Chris Riley the chance to intercept and run 80 metres before setting up Richard Owen for a Wakefield try, but a Tickle penalty made it 24-4 to the home side at half-time.
Wakefield's task became even tougher when Patrick Ah Van snapped up a Tim Smith pass which led to the barnstorming winger powering over for the Vikings' fifth try.
Action man Brown was soon at it again, supporting a White break after 54 minutes to give the lively hooker a return pass for his second try under the posts, with Tickle's conversion stretching the lead to 34-4.
White completed his hat-trick after a rampaging run from Gil Dudson and also landed the conversion with Tickle having been substituted.
Widnes eased off the gas and that allowed Wakefield to run in two tries in three minutes through Matt Ryan and Riley to stem the tide, with Hall's conversions making it 40-16, although a stunning comeback never looked to be on the cards.
More Brown magic brought a second try for Ah Van who collected the stand-off's kick before Clarkson was rewarded with a touchdown for his efforts.
And White was still not finished, as he collected Brown's kick for his fourth try which he also converted to complete a hugely impressive haul in a very one-sided victory.
Wakefield coach James Webster was furious with his side's performance, saying: "That was not the standard of a first grade rugby league team by a long way.
"We were outfought and outmuscled for 80 minutes and there was only one side playing. We failed to turn up and we got what we deserved."
