Australian Goldfields Open: Neil Robertson and Judd Trump through to final

Neil Robertson: Faces Judd Trump in final
Neil Robertson: Faces Judd Trump in final

Neil Robertson and Judd Trump will meet in the final of the Australian Goldfields Open after winning their respective semi-finals on Saturday.

The pair were relatively comfortable victors in Bendigo, Trump seeing off China's Xiao Guodong 6-3 and home favourite Robertson beating Mark Davis 6-2.

Trump, the 24-year-old world No 6, is chasing his fourth ranking title after breaks of 94, 101 and 114 in the first four frames took him past Xiao.

Robertson, ranked second in the world, is looking for a second successive victory having won the Wuxi Classic in China last week and a first in his native Australia.

He took an immediate 3-0 lead before Davis hit back with consecutive frames of his own.

Robertson then finished the job with three more in a row, including a high break of 100.

Looking ahead to the final, where the pair will meet over 17 frames in pursuit of a 75,000 US dollars prize, Trump said: "The standard is so high now that's it's hard to get to finals, so that's an achievement in itself.

"I want to say thanks to the crowd because we had a lot of support today and it will be a cracking atmosphere tomorrow.

"Neil and I have had a lot of very good games, he's a tough opponent who doesn't give you chances so you have to score heavily when you get them."

The pair meet in the quarter-finals of this year's World Championship, where Robertson emerged the 13-11 winner.
