Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic will continue their thrilling French Open semi-final on Saturday after a severe weather warning forced the players off court.

The top seed was cruising towards Sunday’s final until Murray pulled back the third set and he appeared to have the momentum at 6-3 6-3 5-7 3-3 when play was interrupted.

Murray still has work to do in the match, scheduled to restart at noon, but he will be heartened by his battling response after a torrid two opening sets in blustery conditions on Philippe-Chatrier Court.

There were few signs of any resistance as the Scot slipped two sets behind following a string of worrying errors.

But he stalled Djokovic's march towards a meeting with waiting finalist Stanislas Wawrinka at the end of the third, and could even have taken a grip on the fourth if he had not conceded an instant break back.

The decision to halt the action could be more beneficial for Djokovic, who was troubled by the swirling winds and needed medical attention after appearing to complain about his vision.

But he is still one set away from victory, with Murray needing to produce more heroics if he wants to become the first Brit since Bunny Austin in 1937 to reach the men's final in Paris.

The duo will resume play at 1200 (BST) on Saturday.
