Albert Ramos-Vinolas ended his wait for a maiden ATP Tour title by beating Fernando Verdasco in the final of the SkiStar Swedish Open.

The third seed needed 86 minutes to beat his Spanish compatriot 6-3 6-4 in Bastad in what was only his second final on the main tour.

Verdasco had beaten Ramos-Vinolas in their last three meetings, but he was up against it after falling into a 4-1 hole in the opening set.

The 32-year-old wasted three break-point chances in the second and neither player looked particularly comfortable on their own service.

Verdasco broke back to trail 5-4 but he was broken again as Ramos-Vinolas secured victory and was presented with the trophy by former world No 1 Bjorn Borg.

"It feels fantastic to take my first title," said Ramos-Vinolas.
