Germany's rising star Alexander Zverev meets veteran Kevin Anderson in the final of the Citi Open in Washington on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal dominating the ATP Tour this season and preparing to return in Montreal at the Rogers Cup, it is the turn of South African veteran Anderson to show the young guns that there is no substitute for experience.
However in 20-year-old Zverev, Anderson faces the future of the game and arguably the year's form man behind Federer and Nadal - he leads the NextGen Race to Milan by almost 2000 points, while he is also sixth on the Race to London for a spot at the World Tour Finals
Zverev's three titles are only bettered by Federer's five and Nadal's four this season and he is the only other man to claim a 1000 Series title after beating Novak Djokovic in Rome to claim the biggest title of his career.
Zverev saw off Kei Nishikori for the loss of just seven games in their semi-final on Saturday night and has been rarely troubled in his run to the final which has seen him drop just a single set.
The German is up to a career-high eighth in the world rankings and has titles in Munich and Montpellier to go with his success in Italy, and he leads the head to head with Anderson who is playing his first final in two years.
Anderson has lost to Zverev on both previous occasions they have met, including Rome earlier this year, but the 31-year-old from Johannesburg has enjoyed a return to form in recent weeks.
With a host of injury problems behind him, Anderson, the world No 45, reached the last 16 at both the French Open and Wimbledon and has moved impressively through the field in Washington this week - seeing off Dominic Thiem and Jack Sock on his way to Sunday night's showdown.
Anderson's last final, and title came in American when he won the Winston-Salem Open in 2015 but he has won just three of his 11 career singles final at ATP level and Zverev will be the overwhelming favourite when the pair clash on Sunday night.
