Emma Raducanu booked her place in the Transylvania Open semi-finals after beating Maja Chwalinska in straight sets.

Raducanu produced a flawless 6-0 first-set performance, but Chwalinska battled back in the second set, breaking early on to put the Brit under pressure.

But the No 1 seed kept her composure, breaking straight back, and held her serve for the rest of the match as her 6-0 6-4 win set up a clash with Ukranian Oleksandra Oliynykova in the semi-finals.

"I'm very happy with my performance," Raducanu said after the match. "I played a great match from the beginning, and I was so happy to have that start.

"There's always going to be moments of adversity that I need to overcome, and I did that well in the second set, so really proud of how I did that.

Jonathan Overend believes if Raducanu can find the right balance with the correct coach, she will be set up for a great year of tennis

"Maja is a really tough opponent, moves so well, has great hand skills, so I'm really happy with how I overcame that challenge."

On her semi-final clash with Olynikova, she added: "I saw a little bit, she was playing before me. I didn't have much time last night to get ready for this one. I'm so focused on recovery - no matter how long each match is it takes a lot out of you, so I need to recover well."
