Carlos Alcaraz was forced to work hard to reach the quarter-finals of the Vienna Open, as the world No 3 was taken to a dramatic second-set tiebreak by Nikoloz Basilashvili, before he sealed a 6-1 7-6 (13-11) victory.

The Spaniard has now qualified for the 60th quarter-final in his ATP Tour career and will face Tommy Paul in the last eight.

Alcaraz raced to a commanding lead in the opening set, hitting nine winners before Basilashvili hit back in the second, responding to an early break from the Spaniard before saving two break points to force the tiebreak.

With Momentum on the Georgian's side, Basilashvili surged to a 4-1 lead in the tiebreak, but Alcaraz responded with a booming forehand to the baseline to draw level at 4-4.

The tension was high as they battled to 11-11, but despite his resilience, Basilashvili ultimately relented.

Fery takes down Musetti

Britain's Arthur Fery overcame Lyon Open champion Lorenzo Musetti to set up a quarter-final meeting with No 1 seed Alexander Zverev.

Fery came from 2-4 down in the third set to beat the Italian 6-4 5-7 6-4 as he closed in on the top 30 in the world.

The latest win continues the 24-year-old's impressive year, which saw him reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon where he was eventually stopped in a straight sets defeat to Zverev.

Fery last faced Musetti back in September when he fell to a straight-sets loss at the US Open.

Daniil Medvedev fumed on his way to sealing victory against Cameron Norrie

Daniil Medvedev vented his frustration on court as he sealed a 4-6 6-3 7-6(7-1) victory over Cameron Norrie at the Vienna Open.

Norrie and Medvedev traded sets before the Brit struck a brilliant cross-court winner to take a 3-0 lead in the decider.

Medvedev fumed, crouching on his left leg, before repeatedly punching the court with his fist.

He regrouped and staged an epic comeback to take the match to a tiebreak, in which Medvedev claimed seven points on the bounce to book a tie against French qualifier Adrian Mannarino.
