Laura Robson’s return from injury has been put on hold after the former British No 1 was forced to withdraw from this month’s French Open.

The former Wimbledon Junior champion has not played since last year’s Australian Open, after which she underwent wrist surgery.

Although Robson no longer has a world ranking due to her absence from competitive action, the 21-year-old was planning to use her protected ranking to enter the tournament at Roland Garros starting on May 24.

Robson, who has been training at the IMG Academy in Florida, is now thought to be planning a return to action at one of the grasscourt events before Wimbledon.

The Melbourne-born left-hander reached a career-high world ranking of 27 in July 2013 after reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon.
