Johanna Konta beats Denisa Allertova 6-4 6-1 at Indian Wells

Johanna Konta cruised to a straight-sets win over Denisa Allertova in the third round of Indian Wells.

The British No 1 won 6-4 6-1 in the California heat to set up a clash against Karolina Pliskova, who she has never beaten, in the next round.

Konta, the 25th seed, had far too much for Allertova, the world No 64 from the Czech Republic, on Monday but a much sterner test awaits next in the competition.

Pliskova, the 18th seed, defeated former world No 1 Ana Ivanovic 6-2 6-0 while Magdalena Rybarikova beat seventh seed Belinda Bencic 6-4 3-6 6-3.
