Little-known Russian Karen Khachanov powered to his first ATP World Tour title in Chengdu, beating Spaniard Albert Ramos Vinolas 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 in the final.

The 20-year old finished the final match of the set 6-3 after Vinolas sent a ball long.

Khachanov lost the first set 7-6 (7-4) but his powerful serve saw him come back for a 7-6 (7-3) win in the second set with the Vinolas wilting under the force of 14 aces over the course of the match.

Khachanov, from Moscow, is one to watch - he knocked out seventh seed Joao Sousa, fourth seed Feliciano Lopez and sixth seed Viktor Troicki on his way to the final.

The win will rocket him up the ATP rankings to 55 from 101.
