Andy Murray and Dan Evans lost 6-4 6-3 in their doubles match against Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau

Andy Murray missed out on a doubles showdown with brother Jamie after he and Dan Evans were knocked out in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open.

Murray had turned his focus to the doubles after his surprise defeat in the second round of the singles by Vasek Pospisil at the weekend.

World No 1 Murray and Evans, who also exited the singles tournament in round two, were beaten 6-4 6-3 by Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.

The pair had been on course to meet Jamie Murray and his partner Bruno Soares in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Pospisil was brought down to earth after his victory over Murray as he was knocked out by fellow qualifier Dusan Lajovic 7-6 3-6 7-5 in the third round.
