Kyle Edmund produced a stirring comeback to progress to the third round of the Winston-Salem Open.
The British No 2, who had to come through qualifying to reach the main draw, beat Daniil Medvedev 2-6 6-2 7-6 (8-6) in a topsy-turvy match.
Medvedev dominated in the early stages, breaking Edmund in two of his first three service games and easing his way to a comfortable one set lead.
But Edmund bounced back to level with a pair of breaks in the second set, the second of those setting up a decider.
Edmund dropped his serve again in the fifth game but levelled at 4-4 with a break of his own to take the match to a tie-break and secured a third-round meeting with fellow qualifier Marton Fucsovics on his second match point.
However Aljaz Bedene, the world No 48 and British No 3, lost in straight sets against veteran Italian Andreas Seppi, the world No 86, 6-4 7-5.
