David Goffin forced to retire in Rotterdam after ball hits his eye

David Goffin was was forced to retire during his semi-final match against Grigor Dimitrov at the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament after being hit in the eye by a ball.
After losing the first set 6-3 and trailing 1-0 in the second, Goffin was reaching for a powerful forehand from Dimitrov when the ball ricocheted off the frame of his racket and struck him in the eye. Click on the video above to see the freak injury.
The number-four seeded Belgian left the court for treatment but was unable to return to continue the match, handing Bulgarian number two seed Dimitrov a place in Sunday's final.
Early reports claim there is fluid behind Goffin's eye but the Belgian did not suffer any structural damage. He is expected to withdraw from the Open 13 taking place in Marseille next week.
Roger Federer, who became the oldest-ever ATP world number one on Friday, plays Andreas Seppi in the second semi-final during Saturday's evening session to determine Dimitrov's opponent.
