CoCo Vandeweghe cruised past Caroline Garcia 6-4 6-2 in the semi-finals of the Stuttgart Grand Prix on Saturday to move closer to her first title of the season.

The 16th ranked Vandeweghe, who has a pair of Dutch grass-court titles on her WTA CV, has proved a revelation this week, seeing off world No 1 Simona Halep in the quarter-finals.

"I'm playing relaxed, chill," the 26-year-old said. "It's like I'm on the beach in California. I wouldn't say that I don't care, but I'm not taking the matches deadly seriously.

"I'm one step closer to the title [and a flame-red Porsche 718 Boxster Cabriolet which has been on display by the court all week]. I'm excited to be in the final."

US Open semi-finalist Vandeweghe will face Karolina Pliskova in Sunday's final after the Czech fifth seed beat Anett Kontaveit 6-4 6-2.

The Czech was masterful on her own serve, reclaiming her place at the top of the list of most aces this season, and breezed past her Estonian opponent.

Pauline Parmentier of France stunned seventh seed Irina-Camelia Begu in straight sets at the Istanbul Cup on Saturday to set up a title clash with Slovenia's Polona Hercog.
