Jannik Sinner has parted ways with coach Darren Cahill with Magnus Norman poised to replace the Australian.

Sinner has won five Grand Slam titles and spent 95 weeks as world No 1 under the guidance of the veteran Australian, who worked alongside Italian Simone Vagnozzi, but will team up with Swede Magnus Norman on December 1.

Cahill had planned to retire at the end of last season but the pair made a bet that, if Sinner won the Wimbledon title, he could decide on the 61-year-old's future, and he stayed on for another year.

Sinner, who has been sidelined by a knee injury since winning his second Wimbledon crown in July, said: "Darren has been an incredibly important part of my journey. I want to thank Darren for his belief in me, his honesty and his dedication. He has helped me grow both as a player and as a person, and his guidance will stay with me throughout my career."

Former world No 2 Norman arrives with experience and a proven record having taken compatriot Robin Soderling to the top five in the rankings and two French Open finals before guiding Swiss ‌Stan Wawrinka to three Grand Slam titles.

The 50-year-old Swede will take his place alongside coach Simone Vagnozzi, who like Cahill started working with Italian Sinner in 2022.

Alexander Zverev is guaranteed to finish 2026 as the year-end world No 1, with Sinner deciding not to play in any of the remaining ATP tournaments ‌this year.

Tim Henman, speaking on Sky Sports Tennis, said: "You spend so much time with your members of the team, and I think with all due respect, Cahill has been the lead coach who has worked with some outstanding players prior to Sinner.

"The impact that he's had has been on the court because of the titles that he's won, but also the way that he's evolved and grown as a person is very important in that journey, so it's big shoes to fill."
