World No.1 plays final set with bandaged wrist
Caroline Wozniacki faces a fitness battle after she was reduced to tears with a wrist injury just days before the first grand slam of the season.
The 21-year-old Dane felt the pain as she headed into a final set decider in a late night thriller against Agnieszka Radwanska.
An overhit forehand ended the match, sealing victory for Wozniacki's Polish opponent, the final score 3-6 7-5 6-2.
With Petra Kvitova progressing to the semi-finals, Wozniacki's top ranking is at risk, with the Czech world No.2 poised to take the top spot from her within the next two days should she win the Sydney International.
Hope
The Australian Open will begin on Monday and Wozniacki left the stadium with her left wrist in bandages, but still remains positive ahead of the opening grand slam of the year.
"I hope it's not serious," she said. "I could feel it today, especially in the third set. I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow and hopefully it's ok."
"Let's just hope for the best. I should be completely fine for the Australian Open. I started to feel it more and more during the match."
