Verdasco wins just three games in final

David Ferrer steamrollered Fernando Verdasco 6-1 6-2 to claim the Abierto Mexicano Telcel title in an all-Spanish final. It was an easy day at the office for the top seed and two-time defending champion, who needed just 70 minutes to complete victory without facing a single break point. It was the second time the pair had faced each other this year, with Ferrer also having beaten Verdasco in Auckland, and the world number seven has now evened out their career head-to-head record at 7-7. In the women's event, third seed Sara Errani produced a storming third set to beat fellow Italian Flavia Pennetta 5-7 7-7 (7/2) 6-0. Second seed Pennetta was playing in her seventh Acapulco final and made that experience count as she edged the first set, but Errani took the second to a tie-break, which she won at a canter. And Errani lost just three points on serve in the third set as she overwhelmed her compatriot.
