British duo Heather Watson and Laura Robson will both have to qualify for next month's French Open after missing out on direct entry. Watson and Robson are currently ranked 115th and 121st respectively by the WTA, just outside the cut-off point for Roland Garros of 108. Top-100 members Elena Baltacha and Anne Keothavong do, however, gain direct acceptance into the main draw. The injured Kim Clijsters (hip) and Alexandra Dulgheru (knee) are the only players eligible who are not on the entry list, while the returning Agnes Szavay and Timea Bacsinsky will both compete on protected rankings. In the men's draw, Andy Murray will again be Britain's only main-draw participant unless one of his compatriots comes through qualifying. All the world's top 50 are entered with the ranking cut-off point 103. Pablo Cuevas and Benjamin Becker will play on protected rankings following injury lay-offs. The French Open gets under way on May 27 with the qualifying tournament taking place from May 22. British number two Keothavong has announced she will compete in the AEGON Classic tournament in Birmingham in June as part of her preparations for Wimbledon.
