Andrea Petkovic reached her third WTA final of the year in Sofia on Saturday with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Garbine Muguruza.

Fourth seed Petkovic, of Germany, will meet Flavia Penetta in Sunday's Garanti Koza WTA Tournament of Champions final after the Italian overcame Carla Suarez Navarro in straight sets.

Petkovic, who has already won titles at Charleston and Bad Gastein this year, overpowered Spaniard Muguruza in winning the first set in just 24 minutes and then closed out the match after the seventh seed had saved three match points.

"I think I was playing really, really well up until 6-1, 5-2," Petkovic told wtatennis.com. "I wasn't missing at all and I was feeling the ball really well until then.

"But then Garbi started playing a lot tougher and making fewer mistakes. She was hitting really well. I was lucky to win it in the end.

"I was glad I could serve really well in the end of the match and close it out there."

Penetta was given a wild card to play in Sofia but she never looked back in her 6-4 6-2 semi-final victory after winning some long games against Suarez Navarro early on.

"It was really tough from the beginning," Penetta said after reaching the 24th WTA final of her career.

"The first four or five games were so long and so tight and I was just trying not to give her the same rhythm all the time.

"I knew I had to change it up, but also be aggressive when the right moments came."
