Thomaz Bellucci continued his love affair with Switzerland as he beat Joao Sousa 7-6 6-4 to win the Geneva Open title.
The Brazilian was winning for the fourth time on the ATP Tour, with two of his previous wins having come in the Swiss Open, on the claycourt surface in Gstaad.
Bellucci went into the tournament unseeded, ranked 60 in the world, but with the tournament's top players all struggling sixth-seeded Sousa was the highest-ranked player he faced all week.
He wasted three set points in the 10th game of the opening set but managed to take the advantage when he edged the tie-break 7-4.
Battling Sousa claimed an early break in the second, but Bellucci reeled off four straight games to complete victory in a tournament back on the schedule after a 24-year gap.
Bellucci could be an early opponent for French Open fifth seed Kei Nishikori in Paris next week, with a possible second round clash to look forward to if he can beat Marinko Matosevic in his opener.
