British No 1 Heather Watson has climbed eight places to No 51 in the WTA world rankings.
Watson reached the third round at Wimbledon before losing a three-set thriller to champion and world No 1 Serena Williams and has been rewarded with a rise to the brink of the top 50.
She is still some way off her highest ever ranking of 38 – which she achieved in January this year - but she is once again moving in the right direction.
British No 2 Johanna Konta, beaten in the first round by Maria Sharapova, drops one place to 127, whilst Laura Robson, who was effectively unranked after a long break from the game because of injury, has a new world ranking of 906.
Williams is the runaway world No 1 on 13,161 points, nearly 7000 ahead of Maria Sharapova who is back up to No 2, up two places. The biggest mover is Wimbledon runner-up Garbine Muguruza, who is up 11 places to No 9, breaking into the top 10 for the first time.
Petra Kvitova, last year’s Wimbledon champion, drops from No 2 to No 5.
