Cameron Norrie wins Australian Open qualifying first round match against Filip Peliwo

Cameron Norrie safely progressed to the second round of Australian Open qualifying on Wednesday with a three-set victory over Filip Peliwo.

The 22-year-old, ranked 112 in the world, defeated his Canadian opponent 6-1 6-7 6-4 to book a second-round match with Australian John-Patrick Smith.

Fellow Briton Liam Broady crashed out in the first round after losing 5-7 6-3 7-6 (5/7) to Matteo Berrettini.

Broady's sister, Naomi, is set to face Liechtenstein's Kathinka von Deichmann in the first round of qualifying for the women's singles draw.

Elsewhere in men's qualifying, Nicolas Mahut suffered a shock exit in the opening round of qualifying with a straight-sets defeat to Serb Danilo Petrovic.
