World number 21 insists he will not be replacing Nadal

Tommy Robredo has ruled himself out of the running to replace the injured Rafael Nadal for Spain's Davis Cup final against Argentina. Nadal made himself unavailable for the contest at Mar del Plata later this month having been diagnosed with knee tendonitis. The world number one retired from the Paris Masters and subsequently pulled out of Masters Cup in Shanghai in a bid to recover in time for the match on November 21-23, but was forced to admit defeat in his quest for fitness after the knee failed to respond to a week of treatment. As a result Spain will have to announce a replacement, but Robredo insists he will not be able to step into Nadal's shoes. The world number 21 has not played competitively for nearly two weeks and claims he would not be in the right condition to face the Argentines. "It's been about 12 days now that I haven't done anything so it would be a surprise if they selected me, but I couldn't go," stated the 26-year-old.
