Second seed Alize Cornet ruthlessly saw off Yulia Putintseva to reach the second round of the Guangzhou International Women's Open.
Cornet, the world No 22, broke Putintseva six times en route to recording a 6-1 6-1 rout in 77 minutes.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for the seeds in China, though, with both Roberta Vinci and Annika Beck crashing out.
Vinci, the No 6 seed, was beaten by home hope Zhu Lin 6-3 7-6 (9-7), while eighth seed Beck lost 6-4 7-6 (7-5) to Maria Teresa Torro.
Shahar Peer extended her winning run over Pauline Parmentier to three with a 7-6 (10-8) 6-3 success.
American Alison Riske was a 6-4 7-6 (7-5) winner over Johanna Larsson, while Misaki Doi edged out Katarzyna Piter 5-7 6-4 6-3.
