Angelique Kerber continued to delight her home fans by reaching the semi-finals of the Nurnberger Versicherungscup on Thursday.
The second-seeded German needed just 66 minutes to dispatch Japan's Misaki Doi and book a last four meeting with Italian fourth seed Roberta Vinci.
Vinci endured a tougher than expected test against another Japanese player, Kurumi Nara, recovering from a poor second set to move through 6-1 1-6 6-4.
Sixth seed Karin Knapp beat Kazakh qualifier Yulia Putintseva 6-2 6-4 to reach the semi-finals where she will face Spain's Lara Arruabarrena, who overcame eighth seed Carina Witthoeft 6-0 6-4.
