Andy Murray is refusing to look past Facundo Arguello as he prepares to start his French Open campaign against the Argentinian in Paris.
The British No 1 takes on Arguello, a lucky loser from qualifying, in the final match on Roland Garros' main Phillipe Chatrier court at around 5pm.
A possible semi-final clash with either Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic could lie ahead if Murray advances through a tricky draw, but the Scot is purely focusing on his opening match with the 22-year-old Arguello, who is ranked at 137 in the world.
“I’ve played in many Slams now where I’ve gone in and people have said 'you’ve got the hardest draw',” he told Eurosport.
“After three or four days of the tournament, a couple of people lose and I’m told it’s the easiest draw and if you don’t make the final then that’s terrible.
“You just have to concentrate on each match. I know obviously it’s fun for the media and the fans to speculate about potential match-ups, but for the players we just concentrate on the first one and hopefully build from there.”
Murray has warmed up for the Paris tournament by collecting clay court titles in Munich and Madrid, racking up a perfect 10-0 record on the surface.
He is pleased with his preparations after making a number of telling changes to his calendar.
“The whole schedule really is different,” said Murray. “I missed Monte Carlo, which most years I go and play, but I prepared over in Barcelona. I trained there before going to Munich, which I hadn’t done before and then played a smaller tournament. I had never played any of the 250 events and managed to come through and win that tournament.
“I beat a couple of good clay court players there - Philipp Kohlschreiber and Roberto Bautista Agut - and that gave me some confidence.
“It’s a good call from my team to change my schedule and try something a bit different. It worked.”
