Qualifier Nicolas Mahut dumped third seed Roberto Bautista Agut out of the second round of the Topshelf Open to reach the quarter-finals at his expense.

The Frenchman needed one hour and 14 minutes to oust the world No 20, with his 6-2 6-4 victory setting up a last-eight clash with sixth seed Adrian Mannarino, who defeated Marco Chiudinelli 6-3 6-2 in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Another seed to fall was Joao Sousa, the victim of a 6-3 7-6 (7-2) triumph by Ukrainian qualifier Illya Marchenko.

Second seed David Goffin lies in wait for the man from Donetsk after ousting Jurgen Melzer 7-6 (7-2) 6-2.

In the women's tournament, the second and fourth seeds, Jelena Jankovic and Belinda Bencic, survived to reach the quarter-finals.

The former was a 6-1 6-4 winner over Andrea Hlavakcova while Bencic of Switzerland edged out Alison van Uytvanck 6-3 6-2.

Annika Beck beat Klara Koukalova 6-4 6-4 to set up a meeting with former US Open finalist Jankovic and Bencic will next pit her wits against Kristina Mladenovic.

Elsewhere, home hopeful Kiki Bertens eliminated sixth seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2 6-2.
