Ross County have announced the departure of defender Jay McEveley after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

The 32-year-old moved to County from Sheffield United on a two-year contract last summer and has elected to move south and join National League side Tranmere Rovers

Manager Jim McIntyre told the club website: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jay for his services to County over the last year and wish him all the best for his future career."

McEveley, who began his career with Blackburn in 2002, made 28 appearances during his time at Victoria Park as County achieved a seven-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership.
