Tim Wiese united the sports of football and professional wrestling when he made his in-ring debut for WWE in Munich on Thursday night.

The former Germany goalkeeper has made the move from pitch to ring after calling time on a footballing career, which included spells at Werder Bremen, Kaiserslautern and Hoffenheim, in 2014.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney made waves in WWE last year, when he slapped British wrestler King Barrett at an episode of Monday Night Raw in the United Kingdom.

Rugged Chelsea centre-forward Diego Costa could also have the strength to make it as a WWE Superstar, while Sky's Football League expert Ian Holloway would make a quick-witted manager.
