Mark Andrews has vowed to put Wales on the WWE map after being added to the tournament to find a new Cruiserweight champion.

The 205 Live title is vacant following Enzo Amore's departure from the company, and a 16-man tournament has been set up to find his replacement, with the final taking place at WrestleMania in April.

One British competitor has already featured in the contest, with the excellent Tyler Bate - who was crowned WWE's first United Kingdom champion in January 2017 - bowing out to TJ Perkins in a first-round match.

Adding another layer of British interest to the tournament is the fact it has been booked by new 205 Live general manager Drake Maverick, who has competed on both sides of the Atlantic as Rockstar Spud.

Andrews, 26, and a native of Cardiff, was also part of the UK championship, losing to eventual finalist Pete Dunne - the current champion - and featured on 205 Live on WWE's November tour of Europe.

On that occasion, he teamed with Cedric Alexander to beat Joseph Conners and James Drake in Manchester and gets another chance in the spotlight this month with a tournament match against former Cruiserweight champion Akira Tozawa.

"I have a big opportunity here not to put just the UK on the map for wrestling but to put Wales on the map for wrestling," he said.

"I want to make south Wales known for wrestling and I want to make Wales known for Mark Andrews."
