Triple H says British star Pete Dunne is 'a future WWE champion'

Last Updated: 14/06/18 2:54pm

Current WWE United Kingdom champion Pete Dunne has the potential to win a top title, according to Triple H.

Birmingham-born Dunne, 24, is widely regarded as one of the biggest prospects in the world and performed in WWE's match of the year for 2017, against fellow Brit Tyler Bate.

Both will appear at WWE's events at the Royal Albert Hall next week, teaming with Trent Seven as the excellent Moustache Mountain to take on Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong and Adam Cole on the Monday night.

Ronda Rousey takes on Nia Jax for the Raw women's title and two ladder matches will decide who takes home the Money In The Bank briefcases!

Dunne defends his UK title on the Tuesday against the winner of a United Kingdom tournament which completes 24 hours earlier.

While he admits it can be dangerous to single out an individual competitor, Triple H believes Dunne has all the attributes to potentially become the first British WWE world champion.

"I think his ability to take a style from years ago in a classic UK style and blend that with a modern style and be comfortable in what he says and what he does, and his passion for this is what's impressive. He's like a sponge, he's constantly learning.

"If I had to pick one guy it would be Pete and I hate to pick one guy because sometimes that's the worst thing you can do to someone but there's a lot of talent out there who I feel could be the next one to go to the main roster and make an impact."
