Verdict

Given the form of Richard Hannon's juveniles this term Kojak has to be strongly considered on his debut but two runners with experience have an advantage of having raced previously and both CHILWORTH LAD and Magic Stella ran well first time out with the former looking unlucky and getting the vote for Mick Channon and Chris Catlin. The son of Diktat was carried badly right approaching the final furlong before keeping on well for second behind the unhindered Casual Glimpse at Goodwood at the beginning of the month and, granted a clear run here, he can go one better. William Haggas saddles a son of Oasis Dream in Approve and any market support for him would be of interest, while Brian Meehan's Velvet Underground is speedily bred being by Exceed And Excel but the yard's juveniles normally improve for the run. Richard Hannon is also represented by Welsh Dancer, although jockey bookings suggest that Kojak is the better of the Hannon pair. Barry Hills saddles a son of Avonbridge in West Leake Bridge and he has claims although a bigger threat to the selection is likely to come from recent Haydock second Magic Stella, who has every chance. Chilworth Lad looked unlucky on his debut at Goodwood though and he can gain compensation today.
