In depth

Verdict

Sherman McCoy has won three times around here but may just need this. Jan Smuts is the only other course winner in the line-up but he's probably better over 2m and hasn't got his head in front for almost two years. Recent Wolverhampton winner Next Edition looks vulnerable off an 8lb higher mark and stablemate Triple Eight returns from a break but Stanarley Pic could go well racing off the same mark as when second at Ayr last September. HARTSIDE hasn't raced on the Flat since 2012 but arrives here off the back of a couple of wins over hurdles, including one here, and should have the pace for this, though Joe Fanning may have to bide his time from a wide berth.
