In depth

Verdict

Character Onesie caught the eye when taking a victory from an unpromising position over course and distance, and though Richard Fahey's gelding is on the upgrade, we think MAKE IT UP is the one to be on. Andrew Balding's colt was well held in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot, but he appears to be well drawn this afternoon and he can make full use of his early pace. Gerry The Glover has conversely drawn very high so Brian Ellison's gelding faces a stiff task after landing a monster gamble at Newcastle. Properus is invariably well backed and he is likely to be thereabouts, while Enlace has an eyecatching jockey booking in Kevin Stott and Mark Johnston's filly is already chasing a fourth success of the campaign. Ballymore Castle and Misterioso were smart performers last term and are worthy of a market check.
