    Verdict

Richard Hannon muddies the waters with two starters and PALAWAN is fancied to land the spoils. Connections thought enough of the colt to pitch him into the Chesham Stakes, and having finished a creditable fourth, he gained compensation with a bloodless victory in a Salisbury maiden. Spongy accounted for Welford when they met in a Leicester maiden and he looks the type that could make an impact in the big sales races. Gerrard's Quest has a bit to do at the weights though he handles fast ground well and his trainer is not in the habit of making frivolous entries. Ian Fleming was bred with stamina in mind, and the betting should give an idea as to what is anticipated on debut.
