Verdict

Three of these are clear of the rest and led by SANDS OF MALI (NAP). Richard Fahey’s high-class sprinter hasn’t raced since Meydan in March but has gone well fresh before and won the Group 1 British Champions Sprint in soft going at Ascot in October. He beat today’s rivals Donjuan Triumphant and Brando on that occasion and should be even stronger this year. There was little between the latter pair at Ascot though the former will be sharper for April’s comeback run and may have the edge once again today but the remainder are facing a difficult task on these terms with Fighting Irish preferred to both Lahore and Lomu.
