In depth

Verdict

Bertiewhittle and Twin Appeal represent David Barron and they finished 1-2 in a Class 4 handicap at York in October. The former is slightly better off so should confirm the form. ROLL ON RORY did Jason Ward proud last season winning four handicaps including over this track and trip and he finished off the campaign just failing to concede Aleef 3lb in a conditions race at Newmarket. In the hope that he's ready after his break he looks the one to be on. Russian Realm would have an obvious chance on his victory in a Class 2 handicap at Goodwood last April while Pat Shanahan has sent Ionization to the UK three times and been successful twice though she's 7lb higher than when landing a lower-grade Chester handicap in July. Penwortham improved throughout last season, landing a Class 5 handicap at Goodwood in June and ending with a victory at this level at Chester so he's very much respected with further progress likely.
