Verdict

This would appear to be the more interesting of the two divisions and it can see Midnight Cruiser open his account with Polly's Mark and Equipe De Nuit rated the biggest dangers from those with racecourse experience. The selection stayed on takingly after a slow start at Newmarket to run a race brimful of promise and expectations are clearly high as he holds an entry in the Racing Post Trophy. The going was on the soft side there so conditions should be fine and the form should stack up as layers were sufficiently impressed with the winner to introduce him into the Guineas market. Equipe De Nuit has run two sound races and should have little difficulty winning a maiden but whether he will be good enough to open his account here is open to question. Clive Cox's juveniles have yet to come to hand and he's still awaiting his first winner in the division but it may not be long in coming judged by the promise that Polly's Mark showed on debut. She should improve on that and has a decent chance of making the frame again. Bagber rates a mention as does Eddie Boy who is extremely interesting on paper but lacks any big race entries unlike the selection; that's no guarantee that he'll deliver on the track but he has already run one solid race and Midnight Cruiser can live up to his billing.
