Verdict

Marine Boy is preferred to Art Connoiseur and Spin Cycle. Tom Dascombe has already landed two Group races this season and may be able to make it three with this already gelded son of One Cool Cat. He attracted support ahead of his debut at Newbury and justified market expectations in no uncertain manner when finishing seven lengths clear of a well regarded filly. The second won her next start a shade cosily and he deserves his place in the line-up. Art Connoiseur rates the one to beat but he does have to carry a penalty for his win in the Coventry Stakes. He ran below that level of form at the Curragh last time although it must be said that the winner looks to be a class act. Deposer and Jobe are well regarded and both won their maidens impressively but Spin Cycle takes the last place on the short-list by virtue of his proven form in Group company. He has raced like a six furlong horse on his last two starts in the Norfolk and the Molecomb and should relish this test. It remains to be seen how he handles cut in the ground but he'll be a major player if he takes to it. There are no worries with regard to conditions for the selection and Marine Boy is taken to put another feather in the cap of his young trainer.
