Forward signs 12-month deal at the Stoop

Harlequins have signed former Newcastle forward Peter Browne on a year-long deal. Browne, who was allowed to leave the Falcons 12 months into a two-year contract, had attracted interest from Gloucester, Scarlets, Leinster and the Dragons. Leinster were particularly interested in Browne, who qualifies to play for Ireland through his father, however he has now agreed to head to the Stoop. The 22-year-old, who is 6ft 7in tall, can provide cover in the back-row however he is set to challenge for a place in the Quins second row. Current Quins locks James Percival and George Robson are both currently sidelined so Browne will be challenging the likes of Ollie Kohn and Louis Stevenson.
