Back-rower commits to Highlanders

Adam Thomson has resisted the lure of the Crusaders to agree a new one-year deal with the Highlanders. The All Blacks back-rower had been linked to a switch to Christchurch - with full-back Israel Dagg having already made the move from Otago in the off-season. However the 28-year-old, who has been capped 17 times, has decided to remain with Jamie Joseph's side. "This was one of the most significant decisions of my career and one that was not taken lightly, it was important for me to consider all of my options and I am happy to recommit to the Highlanders again next year," he said. "I am excited about the direction Jamie is taking the team, and I am very happy I will be able to remain loyal to the region."
