New Zealander agrees a 'pay-as-you-play' deal
Experienced scrum-half Jason Spice has agreed to join Newcastle on a short-term contract.
The 35-year-old New Zealander arrives at Kingston Park as emergeny cover after Mickey Young was left as the club's only fit No.9.
Spice has agreed a 'pay-as-you-play' deal and will be eligible to make his debut in the must-win game against Leeds on Boxing Day.
"Spice provides much needed cover for Micky Young at scrum-half," said coach Alan Tait.
"He also brings with him a wealth of experience which is invaluable for the club."
Spice has previously played for Bristol, Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, Wellington, Hurricanes and Waikato, while he spent a month providing cover at Leicester.
