Australia back to confirm his future destination

James O'Connor is set to finally announce his Super Rugby side for 2012 with a host of clubs chasing the Australia international. The Wallabies back is currently rugby's most in-demand property and he says a decision will be reached in the next few days. O'Connor's late try and conversion helped Australia beat the All Blacks for the first time in 11 meetings last October. So it is no wonder the Melbourne Rebels, the Reds and the Brumbies are all chasing the 20-year-old star - while his current side the Force haven't given up hope of retaining him. O'Connor said: "I haven't made a decision yet, but it'll be a footy decision. "This is the time frame I wanted to look at, this week." "Until now I just wanted to focus on football. But now I will just go through everything and see who is going to be best for me."

Interest

There are reports the Force may present an improved offer to keep the player whose international bow at 18 made him Australia's second youngest debutant. With the ability to play anywhere on the backline barring scrum-half, the Force have alternated him between full-back and inside centre this season but his versatility is clear with his international caps having come in the back three. But Force chief executive Vern Reid knows it is not just his skill as a player which is important. Reid said: "There is James' value to the team and then there is James' value to the franchise. "What James does is complete our retention puzzle and puts a sparkle on it. "We see him being fundamental to our successful development."
