Plante takes the place of teenage centre Gael Fickou, whose dreams of a first international cap have been dashed by an ankle injury.
Fickou, 18, was hurt playing for Toulouse in the Heineken Cup earlier this month.
Plante, who is also uncapped, takes the total number of players in Philippe Saint-Andre's squad to 33, although 10 of those will be omitted before their first fixture against Italy on 3 February.
Forwards: Debaty, Domingo, Forestier, Kayser, Guirado, Szarzewski, Attoub, Ducalcon, Mas, Maestri, Pape (capt), Suta, Taofifenua, Chouly, Dusautoir, Laurey, Nyanga, Ouedraogo, Picamoles.
Backs: Machenaud, Parra, Michalak, Trinh-Duc, Bastareaud, Buttin, Clerc, Dulin, Fall, Plante, Fofana, Fritz, Huget, Mermoz.
