Maro Itoje

Maro Itoje is pushing for a place in England's match-day 23 against Scotland

Itoje burst onto the scene in 2014 when he captained England Under-20s to the Junior World Championship title.

Since then, the politics student and part-time poet has captained Saracens to LV= Cup and Aviva A league titles, not once experiencing defeat, as well as making England's initial 50-man World Cup training squad, all before the age of 22.

Itoje was omitted from the England squad to face Scotland but he has been recalled following his man of the match display against Bath and the lingering injury concerns over Courtney Lawes.

My gut feeling on Maro is that he's definitely progressing, but he needs just a little more time.
Eddie Jones

"I want Maro to be a 60-Test player," said Eddie Jones. "I don't want him to be a 10 or 20-Test player. 60-Test players start their career well and build on that.

"Some players you can expose too late, some too early. My gut feeling on Maro is that he's definitely progressing, but he needs just a little more time.

"And if he's going to play 60 Tests for England we can wait because that would mean he's a bloody good player and that's what I think he will be."

Elliot Daly

Elliot Daly has scored four tries in 15 appearances for Wasps this season

Known for his long-distance shots at goal, Daly has also caught the eye with his stunning tries this season, helping Wasps secure a home quarter-final in the Champions Cup.

He made his first-team debut at centre against Exeter Chiefs in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in November 2010 while still at school, making him the second-youngest player to represent the club.

Daly has represented England at U16, U18 and U20 level, winning an U20 Six Nations Grand Slam and reaching the Junior World Cup final in 2011.

Like Itoje, Daly was released back to Wasps but he has since been recalled and will travel to Murrayfield as a reserve.

"While I don't select the England team, I don't think he can do any more," said Wasps director of rugby Dai Young. "He showed what a threat he is against the best in Europe.

"He's also been excellent at the bread and butter stuff like defence that you expect from an international centre and he's shown his all-round game. It would be hard not to pick him".

Jack Clifford

Jack Clifford has been a star performer for Harlequins

Born in Brisbane, Clifford pledged his allegiance to England ahead of the 2003 Rugby World Cup final and cites the formidable back-row trio of Neil Back, Richard Hill and Lawrence Dallaglio as his sporting idols.

Since being handed his Harlequins first-team debut in 2012, Clifford has gone on to make 45 appearances for the club, leading them in two European Challenge Cup games.

Clifford has already experienced what it takes to succeed at an international level, captaining England U20s to Junior World Cup glory in 2014 as they came from behind to beat Wales 23-15.

Can Eddie Jones guide England to just their second title since 2003?

Despite his ability to play all across the back row, Eddie Jones will use Clifford to fill a void on the openside flank.

"I don't think he will be an out-and-out seven" said Jones. "But I think he is the sort of guy that, maybe for his career, can start at seven like a Rodney So'olialo and then go back to his best position which will be No 8."

Virimi Vakatawa

Virimi Vakatawa is a star of the Sevens circuit

France Sevens star Vakatawa is among the eight uncapped players named in Guy Noves' 31-man Six Nations squad.

The Fiji-born centre, who started his career at Racing 92, has established himself as a star of France's Sevens team and his explosive and versatile style caught the eye of Noves and his coaching staff.

Vakatawa combines raw pace and power with a fantastic step and fend and France will hope he can replicate that in the 15-man game.

The 23-year-old made 44 appearances for Racing 92 but his last appearance came in December 2013 and it remains to be seen how quickly he can readjust to XVs.

Zander Fagerson

Zander Ferguson is targeting a first cap in the Six Nations

Fagerson's professional rugby debut was certainly a baptism of fire. Aged just 19, he was called from the bench in a PRO12 match against Treviso in which Glasgow had been reduced to 13 men.

Despite his young age, Fagerson has already experienced an international squad environment when he was called up as late injury cover ahead of Scotland's World Cup quarter-final against Australia.

It is not just on the rugby field where Fagerson showcases his talents. He sang with the National Boys Choir in 2008, became Scottish Downhill Mountain Bike champion in 2010 and is also a qualified lifeguard.

CJ Stander

CJ Stander has been outstanding in a difficult season for unster

CJ Stander may be a newcomer to international rugby but at 25 years old he is the oldest of the four uncapped players to feature in Ireland's 35-man squad.

The back row has captained the Blue Bulls at U19 and U21 level as well as South Africa at school and U20s level.

Stander made the move to Munster from his native South Africa in 2012 and on completing his three years of residency pledged his allegiance to Ireland.

Since the move to Thomond Park, Stander's game has gone from strength to strength and his efforts were rewarded when he was named the 2015 Munster Rugby Player of the Year.

Stuart McCloskey

Watch Stuart McCloskey score a superb try for Ulster against the Ospreys

McCloskey only started to take an interest in rugby when he joined Bangor Grammar school. His time before that was taken up by football and a keen passion for golf, with his lightweight frame not suited to rugby.

Fast forward to February 2014 and a 6ft 3, 17-stone McCloskey was making his Ulster senior debut, catching the eye with his skill-set, offloading repertoire as well as his uncompromising physical style.

The 23-year-old has gone on to expand his playing style this season and is much more than just a crash ball option. He featured in the Provinces' first 16 games of the season and scored three tries, beat 60 defenders and made 129 tackles.

Rory Sutherland

Rory Sutherland has made 11 PRO12 appearances for Edinburgh this season

Sutherland caught the eye of Edinbugh while playing for Gala RFC in the Scottish Premiership and signed his first full-time professional contract in May 2014.

His performances for the PRO12 side soon caught the eye and it wasn't long before international recognition beckoned.

A few hours before Edinburgh's Guinness PRO12 match against Ulster, he was called into the Scotland Rugby World Cup quarter-final squad as cover for the injured Ryan Wilson, but his services weren't needed and he remained uncapped.

Aled Davies

Aled Davies is the only uncapped member of Wales' Six Nations squad

Davies has been part of the Scarlets set up since the age of 15, making his competitive debut as a substitute in the LV= Cup against Leicester Tigers.

The 23-year-old has been sharing game time this season with World Cup scrum-half Gareth Davies, helping the Scarlets to the summit of the Guinness PRO12 table and is the only uncapped member of Warren Gatland's 31-man squad for the Six Nations.

Davies missed out on selection for Wales' Six Nations opener against Ireland but namesake Jonathan is predicting big things from the scrum-half.

Will Greenwood casts his eye over the Wales squad and gives his prediction for how they'll do in the Six Nations.

"Aled was in the academy at the time I was at Scarlets and I remember him fighting back from a fairly serious injury and coming out strong," he said.

"To deal with that kind of injury when you're still young and trying to make your way in the game can be crippling to your confidence, but the way he conducted himself shows a lot about his determination. He will bring a lot of that to the Wales set-up."

Josh Beaumont

Josh Beaumont featured for England against the Barbarians last year

Beaumont has taken an unconventional route to take his place in Eddie Jones' England squad compared to some of his teammates.

Making the move from the backs to the engine room aged 16 meant Beaumont was overlooked at age-group rugby and when others were being scouted by clubs, he used university rugby as his stepping stone to further his game.

While halfway through his geography degree at Durham University, the 23-year-old was offered a contract by Sale Sharks and Beaumont never looked back.

Stuart Barnes looks ahead to the 2016 Six Nations Championship

The son of RFU chairman Bill, Beaumont is no stranger to the Twickenham turf having played there on five occasions to date, including in the white of England against the Barbarians last May.

Despite his well-known father, the No 8 is hoping his performances on the field will allow him to make a name for himself in his own right.

"You always get the 'son of' label, you just grow up with it and get used to it," he said. "It gets frustrating sometimes but, when you get to a certain level, you're only there for one reason, there's no external factors helping you to gain selection, so you just brush it off.

"From now on, I don't expect it to come up too much. I'm my own man and I'll just keep trying to perform well for Sale, hopefully perform well in camp, and you never know."
