Jamie George says England are focusing on improving in different areas during their Six Nations campaign

Jamie George says England are focusing on improving in different areas to take their game to "another level", ahead of their Six Nations clash against Scotland on Saturday.

In defence of their title, England have won both of their games against Wales and Italy before travelling to Murrayfield to play Scotland, who have beaten France and lost to Wales in their opening matches.

Saracens hooker George believes England have taken positives from the way they defended in the 12-6 win over Wales, but are aiming to firm up their attacking qualities going forward in the tournament.

"We don't try and put everything into one area, we're focusing on lots of different areas and a lot of the work-ons we've had from Wales are key going into this Scotland game, it's where Scotland are strong," said George.

England forwards coach Steve Borthwick says Nathan Hughes is in contention for selection against Scotland despite his lack of rugby since his return from a knee injury

"I think the main positive we took out of the Wales game was the way we defended, our physicality in defence was good.

"But at the same time, we want to take it to another level so that's something we've been focusing on. In terms of attack, just making sure we get our forwards in the game a bit more.

"I think that's always been our aim but we didn't quite get it that way - it didn't quite click against Wales but hopefully it will on Saturday.

George continues to provide cover for captain Dylan Hartley from the bench, and is committed to embracing any opportunities he is given by head coach Eddie Jones.

"I know my role within the team, obviously I'm always going to be pushing for more and trying to get better the whole time, but I think Dylan (Hartley) is doing a fantastic job at the moment and all I've got to do is focus on making the most of the opportunities I've been given," George said.

"Whether it's 10 minutes off the bench or 30 minutes off the bench, I want to make it the best 30 or 10 minutes as I possibly can."
