Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys said: "Richard is another key signing for us. We knew we were bringing in an international calibre hooker when he signed, and he's been a very big part of our forward effort ever since he arrived.

"He brings a wealth of experience and a winning attitude to the side as well as a massive physical presence. We're very pleased that he'll be wearing Cherry and White going forward."

Hibbard said: "I've really enjoyed my time with Gloucester and, once the club approached me about extending my stay, it was an easy decision to make.

"I feel I've improved my game since I arrived. The Aviva Premiership is a tough league, there are no easy games and I think that's actually benefitted me as a player.
