Rugby union in 3D!

Sky Sports have announced that they will screen three top rugby union games in 3D in May.

Rugby like you have never seen it before!

Sky Sports will screen the final and one of the semi-finals from the Guinness Premiership climax plus the England v Barbarians international live in 3-D in pubs and clubs across the UK and Ireland in May. Rugby union will become the second sport after football to receive the 3D treatment since the launch of a dedicated channel in commercial premises in April 2010. Mark Robson and Will Greenwood will provide commentary for the 3D coverage, with Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes commenting on the Sky Sports pictures. Commenting on the latest 3D landmark, Martin Turner, Sky Sports' Executive Producer, Rugby Union said: "It changes the axis of how we film rugby union, and it'll change the axis for our viewers as well. It'll be rugby union as you've never seen it before because we are changing the geography of our cameras to maximise the unique perspective 3D provides. Plus, 3D coverage will give us a new dimension editorially in terms of scrums and head on pictures of attacking play." Stuart Barnes added: "There's something about the set plays unique to rugby union that frame very well in 3D. HD pictures provided an enhancement to our rugby union coverage but 3D is a whole new perspective that captures the dynamic of the sport in a very dramatic way." The three confirmed live 3D fixtures are: Sunday 16 May: Guinness Premiership Semi Final (from 1pm Sky 3D)
Saturday 29 May: Guinness Premiership Final (from 5pm Sky 3D)
Sunday 30 May:England v Barbarians (from 4.45 Sky 3D) Click here to find your nearest 3D pub For more information on Sky 3D and to register your interest, go to Sky.com/3D
