Sale scrum-half Peter Stringer has signed a one-year extension at the club.

The 38-year-old, who won 98 Ireland caps during an illustrious international career, has been a key figure for the Sharks since joining last May, initially on a one-year deal.

Stringer previously played 230 times for Munster and has also represented Saracens, Newcastle and Bath in the Aviva Premiership.

He left The Rec last season after struggling to secure a regular place in the side and has been a regular performer for Sale.

"Peter is a model professional who is incredibly fit and shows no signs of getting old," Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond told the club's official website.
